Kelly Farber founded the company in 2013 after finding that the global marketplace for IP rights was changing. Over the years, a team and client roster has built up around those changes, and our work is always on the cutting edge. We’re open to inquiries from international publishing entities as well as film and television companies, domestic or foreign. Our curated approach allows us to work with companies of any size.

Kelly founded the company in 2013 after years of working at literary agencies and in foreign book scouting. She moved to New York City from Philadelphia to pursue a career in publishing, combining her interest in business with her appetite for great stories. She’s involved in every aspect of the scouting process but also loves to figuring out what makes companies thrive. She lives in Brooklyn and Long Island with her husband and two dogs.
Phoebe joined in 2016 after having worked as a bookseller and at Penguin, and is now the company's Vice President after holding lots of different scouting roles within the organization over the years. After 5 years in London to help found the UK branch of KFLS, she now lives in Hudson, NY with her husband and child.
Maddalena is the director of UK scouting and came to the company in 2022 after working at literary agencies, scouting offices, and literary magazines in both the UK and Italy. She operates out of London, and is focused on scouting both adult and children's titles from the British Market. She lives in South Tottenham, and occasionally does freelance translation work.
Dominique is the longest-tenured member of the team and joined Kelly as an intern at the company’s outset. She’s now the office manager and takes care of client-facing logistics, rights queries, and scheduling. In her free time she does philanthropic work as the director of InvisiYouth charity.
Frances is a junior scout in the New York office, focused on nonfiction and literary fiction. She came to KFLS after graduating from the 2024 NYU Summer Publishing Institute.
Regan Devlin is a senior scout in the New York office and came aboard after five years of prior scouting experience. While she works across all elements of the US market, she's best point of contact for commercial fiction, YA, and children's titles.
Izzy joined KFLS in 2023 and is now a consultant for fantasy and genre titles. We rely on her for her expertise in spotting trends and all things Booktok.
